Surface ozone variability and the jet position: Implications for projecting future air quality

摘要: [1] Changes in the variability of surface ozone can affect incidence pollution events. Analysis multi-century simulations from a chemistry climate model shows that present-day summertime depends strongly on jet stream position over eastern North America. This relationship holds decadal time scales under projected change scenarios, which follows robust poleward shift jet. The correlation between and co-located temperature America is also closely tied to position, implying local ozone-temperature relationships may as circulation changes. Jet thus serve dynamical predictor future modulate other northern midlatitude regions.
