摘要: Abstract The present study aimed to evaluate under controlled conditions the acquisition of Hepatozoon canis by Amblyomma ovale after feeding on infected dogs, and subsequent induction infection in uninfected dogs that ingested experimentally ticks. Two H. naturally were infested with A. adult ticks derived from an laboratory tick colony. After feeding, two females presented oocysts hemolymph at first fourth days removal dogs. had average size 244.34 μm × 255.46 μm. Three fed previously Only one dog became 32 oral inoculation, presenting circulating gametocytes, parasitemia less than 1%, positive PCR confirmed be DNA sequencing. results obtained indicated as potential vector rural areas Brazil.
