摘要: Since camera traps were first used to estimate the density of tiger Panthera tigris populations in India (Karanth 1995; see also Karanth et al. this volume), methodology has been widely study a variety species: leopards pardus (Henschel and Ray 2003; volume; Kostyria 2003), snow uncia (Jackson 2006), pumas Puma concolor (Kelly 2008), ocelots Leopardus pardalis (Di Bitetti 2006, 2008; Dillon Kelly 2007, Maffei 2005; Trolle Kery 2003, 2005), Geoffroy’s cats Oncifelis geoffroyi (Cuellar 2006; Pereira 2006). However, jaguars onca have probably received most attention with respect using abundance that cover species’ entire Neotropical range (Cullen 2004b; Miller Silver 2004; Soisalo Cavalcanti To date, at least 83 different trapping efforts carried out survey jaguars, from southern Arizona north northern Argentina south. In chapter, we describe details – summarizing information on design methodologies, results, data manipulation analyses discuss how future surveys can be refined allow for more robust inferences.
