摘要: This study evaluated the radiopacity of Portland cement associated with following radiopacifying agents: bismuth oxide, zinc lead subnitrate, carbonate, barium sulfate, iodoform, calcium tungstate, and zirconium oxide. A ratio 20% radiopacifier 80% white by weight was used for analysis. Pure dentin served as controls. Cement/radiopacifier disc-shaped specimens were fabricated, testing performed according to ISO 6876/2001 standard dental root sealing materials. Using Insight occlusal films, radiographed near a graduated aluminum stepwedge varying from 2 16 mm in thickness. The radiographs digitized compared using Digora software (Orion Corporation Soredex, Helsinki, Finland). radiographic density data converted into mmAl analyzed statistically analysis variance Tukey-Kramer test (alpha = 0.05). pure significantly lower (p < 0.05) than that dentin, whereas all cement/radiopacifier mixtures more radiopaque alone cement/bismuth oxide cement/lead presented highest values differed other materials 0.05), cement/zinc lowest All tested substances higher may potentially be added agents. However, possible interference radiopacifiers setting chemistry, biocompatibility, physical properties should further investigated before any clinical recommendation can done.
