摘要: Abstract In a culture obsessed with women's attractiveness and beauty, media messages abound telling us our corporeal bodies are unacceptable as they are. Women's need sanitizing, deodorizing, exfoliating, denuding. Perhaps more than any other bodily function, menstruation must be kept “under wraps” in sexually objectifying culture. this article, we argue that girls' feelings of acceptance for their functions physical embodiment antithetical to “self-objectification,” wherein individuals internalize an outsider's standard appearance. We further objectification theory can inform feminist framework therapists use help clients cope particular kind self-loathing-disgust shame about selves, including menstrual periods, values impossibly idealized feminine embodiment.
