摘要: The TonB system of Escherichia coli (and most other Gram-negative bacteria) is distinguished by its importance to iron acquisition, contribution bacterial pathogenesis, and a unique mysterious mechanism action. This somehow gathers the potential energy cytoplasmic membrane (CM) proton gradient delivers it active transporters in outer (OM). Our understanding this confounded challenge reconciling often contradictory vivo vitro studies that are presented review.
