摘要: The development of new methods diagnostic imaging, improvement in surgical techniques and perioperative care advances adjuvant therapy recent years have failed to improve the overall prognosis for gliomas. Although malignant behaviour, these tumours rarely, if ever, metastasize outside central nervous system (CNS) by time diagnosis majority are still macroscopically confined their site origin. Hence, resection would appear be logical method treatment. However, most cases complete is not possible because infiltrative nature tumour proximity important areas brain. For reasons it appears unlikely that surgery will ever definitive treatment this disease. current clinical practice established value providing a pathological diagnosis, safe rapid palliation prolongation symptom-free survival and, reduction volume, assisting therapy.
