摘要: The subiculum is the main output of hippocampal formation. A high proportion its principal neurons fire action potentials in bursts triggered by activation low threshold calcium currents. This firing pattern promotes synaptic release and regulates spike-timing-dependent plasticity. receives a density fibers originating from raphe nuclei, suggesting that serotonin (5-HT) modulates subicular neurons. Here we investigated if how 5-HT bursting By combining electrophysiological analysis with pharmacology, optogenetics imaging, demonstrate 5-HT2C receptors reduce activity inhibiting low-threshold current mediated T-type Ca2+ channels cells subiculum. In addition, show this novel pathway decreases occurrence epileptiform discharges induced vitro models for temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE).
