摘要: It has been suggested that the metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes are manifestations of inflammatory host response. This response is orchestrated by production pro- anti-inflammatory cytokines under genetic control. We therefore hypothesized a low capacity interleukin-10 (IL-10), centrally operating cytokine with strong properties, associates in old age. In current study, 599 inhabitants city Leiden, age 85 years, were visited at their place residence. The IL-10 was assessed whole-blood assay which lipopolysaccharide used as stimulus. Serum concentrations lipids, lipoproteins, glucose, HbA(1c) determined, history obtained. total cholesterol, LDL triglycerides, gradually decreased over strata representing higher capacity, whereas concentration HDL cholesterol increased (all P < 0.01). odds ratio for 2.7 (95% confidence interval 1.5-4.9) when subjects lowest compared those highest capacity. These findings showed (i.e., pro-inflammatory response) associated diabetes.
