摘要: BACKGROUND Overexpression of the matrix serine proteinase (MSP) trypsin has been implicated in tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis. The objective this study was to clarify clinicopathologic prognostic significance expression esophageal squamous cell carcinomas (SCC). METHODS Production tissue extracts analyzed by immunoblotting gelatin zymography. authors association between immunohistochemically detected SCC characteristics, they investigated whether is a predictor recurrence and/or survival. RESULTS Overproduction activation observed 6 10 extracts. immunoreactivities at invasive front were more intense than those superficial layer. Sections with immunostaining signals greater 30% carcinoma cells front, which 52 (52%) cases, judged be positive for trypsin. Trypsin positivity significantly correlated depth invasion (P < 0.0001), lymph node metastasis = 0.0048), advanced pTNM classification 0.0006), 0.0003), within first postoperative year 0.0005). Patients had shorter disease free overall survival times did negative 0.0001 P 0.0001, respectively). retained its significant predictive value multivariate analysis that included conventional factors 0.0029 0.0006, concomitant overexpression matrilysin often colocalized, worst prognosis. CONCLUSIONS The authors' results suggest plays key role progression carcinoma. Detection as well useful prediction poor prognosis. Cancer 2001;91:1324–31. © 2001 American Society.
