摘要: Abstract: This review highlights the advances that polymers, specifically thermoplastics, are making in active implantable medical device (AIMD) sector. An overview of increasing use polymers and non-medical industries is provided. Polymers interest discussed, their relevant properties as metal replacements highlighted. The challenges for implementing polymer components AIMDs described, with focus on hermeticity, joining methods material degradation an industry where assurance patient safety mandatory.
