摘要: We investigated the natural history of atopic dermatitis (AD) in a population-based birth cohort and assessed whether children at risk visible eczema 5 years age can be identified from total immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels measured 8, 12 18 months. AD data collected included whole body examination for 49 months (4 years) 61 (5 parent completed questionnaire throughout their early lives. Children were divided into four groups based on AD: persistent (AD 1, 6, 18, 30 42 months, n = 34), intermittent onset (before age, 495), late (18-42 273) unaffected (n 429). Visible was present 12.2% (117/957) (95% confidence interval [CI] 10.1-14.3%) children. Levels IgE associated with AD, but not later onset. For all groups, geometric mean higher those who subsequently had than did not. However, degree overlap such that poor predictor five. A cutoff point 78 kU/l highest positive predictive value 28.6%, sensitivity 12% specificity 95%.
