摘要: Abstract Introduction Staphylococcus epidermidis is a main cause of healthcare-associated infections, which known as common pathogen mostly infecting critically ill or immunocompromised patients carrying medical devices. To evaluate the biofilm formation and staphylococcal chromosomal cassette mec (SCCmec) typing S. from different parts two tertiary hospitals in Tehran, Iran. Methods In this study, 103 clinical non-clinical isolates were assessed for production on Congo red agar (CRA) microtiter plate (MTP) methods. The icaABCD genes SCCmec also investigated. Results Out 103, 20(19.4%) formed black colonies (biofilm-forming strains) CRA. MTP method showed that19 (18.4%) was strongly positive; reaction 25(24.2%) moderately positive, remaining 27(26.2%) isolates, weakly positive. Additionally, results CRA agreed with assay PCR assay. Fourteen type-I identified among total 54Methicillin-resistant isolates. Conclusion factor involved pathogenesis expression ica genes, that mediate formation. This study indicates high prevalence their presence not always associated vitro biofilm.
