摘要: Common mechanisms in aging and obesity are hypothesized to increase susceptibility neurodegeneration, however, direct evidence support of this hypothesis is lacking. We therefore performed a cross-sectional analysis magnetic resonance image-based brain structure on population-based cohort healthy adults. Study participants were originally part the Cambridge Centre for Ageing Neuroscience (Cam-CAN) included 527 individuals aged 20–87 years. Cortical reconstruction techniques used generate measures whole-brain cerebral white-matter volume, cortical thickness, surface area. Results indicated that volume overweight obese was associated with greater degree atrophy, maximal effects middle-age corresponding an estimated age 10 years. There no similar body mass index-related changes parameters. This study suggests at population level, may risk neurodegeneration.
