The Role of Internal Urethrotomy in the Prevention of Urethral Stricture following Transurethral Resection of Prostate

摘要: SUMMARY— Urethral stricture is the commonest late complication of transurethral prostatectomy. Although internal urethrotomy widely practised to prevent strictures, there are no reports any controlled trials procedure. A prospective trial urethrotomy, using Otis urethrotome, in 210 consecutive prostatectomies presented. Patients were divided into 2 groups, those undergoing before TUR (“Trial group”) and without (“Control group”), they followed for a minimum 6 months. The incidence control group was significantly greater than (P<0.01. Analysis all other variables revealed difference between groups it concluded that does formation should be undertaken routinely resection.
