摘要: Intermediate nerve schwannomas (INS) are extremely rare lesions in literature. They have been described mimicking facial schwannomas, but not vestibular (VS). We aimed to review the previously published cases, as well evidence believe that they far more common, though usually misdiagnosed or VS. performed a of PubMed/Medline and Embase "intermediate schwannoma," "facial "greater superficial petrosal "geniculate ganglion "chorda tympani schwannoma" identify all cases INS, following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews Meta-Analyses extension Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) statement. Furthermore, 2 operated at our center shown exemplify proposed hypotheses. No article was excluded from review. Thirteen 11 chorda schwannoma, 18 greater schwannoma were found In predilection sensory nerves, ability preserve motor during tumor resection support hypothesis intermediate origin. For VSs, different arachnoidal arrangement medial VS, sharing pia mater by nerve, Obersteiner-Redlich zone origin some The correct identification cerebellopontine angle is uttermost importance, especially when mistaken this may account heterogeneity cochlear outcomes after surgery.
