摘要: Abstract The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI) has utilized lightning data from the Central European Lightning Detection Network (CELDN) since 1999. CELDN primarily focuses on detection of cloud-to-ground (CG) but intra-cloud (IC) is also available. used by CHMI forecasters as an additional source to radar and satellite for nowcasting severe storms. are quantitatively in automatic applications. quality can be evaluated using their climatological characteristics. Climatological characteristics useful defining decision thresholds that valuable human well seven-year period 2002 2008, which had relatively even-quality data, was calculate spatial temporal distributions lightning. monthly number CG strokes varies depending season. highest occurs during summer, with more than 20 days at least five detected Republic territory June July. stokes winter, less three days per month having stokes. mean diurnal distribution peaks between 1500 1600 UTC reaches a minimum 0500 0800 UTC. average shows sharp local maxima corresponding locations TV broadcast towers. flash density, calculated 20 × 20 km grid, maximum (3.23 flashes − 2  year − 1 ) western part (0.92 south-southeast Republic. In addition, related identified convective cells, such stroke rates or relation derived Vertically Integrated Liquid, presented.
