INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE REVISITED: IMPLICATIONS FOR PERFORMANCE

摘要: While the relationship between information technology (IT) and organizational structure has long been a focus of research from descriptive prescriptive point view, few solid results have found as yet linking this to enterprise level performance. This can be attributed problems related definition measurement IT, performance "fit" structure. In trying overcome some these problems, an empirical study was conducted among 108 small medium-sized manufacturing firms, using comprehensive instrument measure IT sophistication in lieu individual criterion variables. Controlling for size environmental uncertainty, it that is positively structural sophistication, performance, stronger high-performing firms than low-performing firms.
