摘要: Coastal waters can become contaminated with both human waste from sewage treatment plants and runoff following manure application. Thus, shellfish produced close to land bioaccumulate enteric viruses of animal origin, including zoonotic hepatitis E virus that infect swine. The goal this study was evaluate the presence HEV in Galicia (NW Spain), a densely populated region strong tradition swine farming, one most important regions world for mussel production. We tested 81 batches by RT-qPCR followed conventional broad-spectrum nested RT-PCR phylogenetic analysis. have obtained 12 positive samples (14.81%) contamination levels ranging 6.7 × 10(1) 8.6 × 10(4) RNA copies/g digestive tissue. Phylogenetic analysis based on 330 nt ORF 1 showed all sequenced isolates belonged genotype 3 subgenotype e, being closely related strains origin. Results show may be potential route transmission humans.
