摘要: Abstract : HERE IS A STRONG DEMAND FOR SOLID LUBRICANT COATINGS THAT CAN FUNCTION OVER WIDE RANGE OF TEMPERATURES. Since none material can provide adequate lubricating properties over a wide temperature range, an approach of composite coating was evaluated in Phase I. Composite coatings ZnO and MoS2 were deposited by sputtering on M5O steel Si3N4 substrates. Coatings characterized Rutherford back scattering (RBS), Auger electron spectroscopy (ABS) Transmission microscopy (TEM), both before after exposure to high temperatures (up 700 deg C) air. Friction measurements performed at the range room C Results indicate that layered ZnO+MoS2/ZnO better than mixed coatings. coefficients 0.2 0.3 below 400 for coated M50 substrate against uncoated ball. At higher temperatures, friction coefficient increased greater or equal 0.4
