摘要: Aims: The specificity of a method for the enumeration Escherichia coli (chromocult agar, CC) was tested using freshwater samples from tropical area (Cuba Island) by isolating colonies and identifying them with API (Appareillage et procede d’identification) strips. Enumerations E. most probable number (MPN) microplate were compared counts on chromogenic fluorogenic agar media [CC, rapid (REC), fluorocult] in temperate samples. Methods Results: A high percentage (95·7%) CC observed. High regression coefficients (log-log linear regressions) found between MPN method. In environment, REC medium significantly different those obtained other methods. to be higher than plate methods environment. Conclusions: Escherichia based glucuronidase activity appear suitable evaluation microbiological quality environment featured this study. Significance Impact Study: study should help improve contamination Cuban freshwaters.
