Child protection cases, one size fits all? Cluster analyses of risk and protective factors

摘要: Abstract Background To provide effective tailor made case management in Child Protection Services (CPS) a insight is needed into the specific characteristics of target group. Using ecological perspective maltreatment, this study explored poorly known CPS population. Objective distinguish subgroups based on risk and protective factors enables that fits needs these subgroups. Participants setting We studied 250 Dutch cases family supervision by court order had completed LIRIK Action Plan checklists August 2014–March 2015. Methods This quantitative analyzed for children parents reported client files. Subgroups were identified two-step cluster analyses. Chi-square analyses relations between parental other groups. Results Building interplay levels child, parent environment, we found five distinct The most vulnerable with multiple problems (31%) or socio-economic (13%). Parts both subgroup have limited factors. Parents major life events (16%) poor parenting (13%) are characterized single-level problems. One (28%), unaccepted, has no registered.
