摘要: Objectives We investigated the association between alcohol consumption and incident congestive heart failure (CHF) both overall after adjusting for myocardial infarction (MI). Background Moderate has been associated with lower risk of CHF MI. Methods The Cardiovascular Health study, a prospective cohort study cardiovascular disease factors outcomes, followed 5,888 subjects ≥65 years old 7 to 10 years. Cox models were used estimate adjusted by reported consumption. Results There 5,595 at baseline data 1,056 events during follow-up. Compared abstainers, was among who consuming 1 6 drinks per week (hazard ratio [HR] 0.82, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.67 1.00, p = 0.05) 13 (HR 0.66, CI 0.47 0.91, 0.01). Time-dependent adjustment MI altered only slightly moderate (for week, HR 0.84, 0.65 1.04; 0.69, 0.49 0.99). Baseline former drinkers had higher than abstainers 1.51, Conclusions use is older adults, even accounting other factors.
