A randomised controlled trial of yoga for the treatment of chronic low back pain: Results of a pilot study

摘要: Abstract Objective To conduct a pilot trial of yoga for the treatment chronic low back pain (LBP) to inform feasibility and practicality conducting full-scale in UK; assess efficacy pain. Design A pragmatic randomised controlled was undertaken comparing usual care. Participants Twenty participants who had presented their GP with previous 18 months were recruited via records from one practice York, UK. Interventions patients either 12 weekly 75-min sessions specialised plus written advice, or care advice. Allocation 50/50. Main outcome measures Recruitment rate, levels intervention attendance, loss follow-up main non-clinical outcomes. Change as measured by Roland Morris disability questionnaire primary clinical outcome. Changes Aberdeen scale, SF-12, EQ-5D, self-efficacy secondary Data collected postal at baseline, 4 weeks, weeks follow-up. Results Of 286 identified database, 52 (18%) consented returned eligibility questionnaire, out these 20 (6.9%) eligible randomised. The total percentage population 0.28%.
