摘要: Abstract This paper discusses the importance of intra-generational equity to sustainable development. It outlines a number methodologies for measuring income inequality in economy, and presents several possible ways incorporating impact distributional effects into measures welfare economy. The authors highlight particular an index developed by Atkinson (Atkinson, A.B., 1970. Distributive politics economic growth. Q. J. Econ., May, 465–490.) based on social model. method possesses two main advantages over other methods. Firstly, it is expressed directly terms well-being. Secondly, value judgements incorporated measure are made explicit through parameter e which expresses society’s degree aversion inequality. calculates case study countries (Sweden UK) between 1950 1996 central estimate e=0.8. results show that loss due inequalities distribution varied 5 10% Sweden, 6 14% UK, with higher values coming towards end period. explores sensitivity these changes relevance work measurement welfare.
