Verification and validation for induction heating

摘要: Truchas is a software package being developed at LANL within the Telluride project for predicting complex physical processes in metal alloy casting. The was designed to be massively parallel, multi-material, multi-physics, and run on 3D, fully unstructured meshes. This work describes Verification Validation assessment of simulating induction heating phase casting process. We used existing data from simple experiment involving graphite cylinder, as common material mold assemblies. Because we do not have complete knowledge all conditions properties this (as case many other experiments), performed parameter sensitivity study, modeled uncertainties most sensitive parameters, quantified how these propagate output response. A verification analysis produced estimates numerical error solution our computational model. outputs runs with randomly sampled values were validation study.
