摘要: The invention pertains to improved lubricating oil dispersants wherein a fractionating polymer is prepared prior functionalization (e.g., in the Koch reaction) for making dispersant additives. In one aspect, it was discovered that by remove light hydrocarbon and unreacted monomer from before carbonylation step of reaction, amount ester impurities generated minimized. Light an undesirable byproduct adversely affects recycle catalyst reaction. also nitrogen-containing additives derived fractionated polymer.
