摘要: Abstract Different criteria are available in the literature to assess fracture behaviour of sharp V-notches. A typical and well-known criterion is based on application Notch Stress Intensity Factors (NSIFs), which able quantify intensity stress field ahead notch vertex. This work considers two recent energy-based applied here The first averaged value strain energy density (SED) while second one, called Finite Fracture Mechanics (FFM) criterion, under different formulations: that one by Leguillon et al. Carpinteri Considering SED a new expression for estimating control radius Rc pure Mode II loading proposed compared with sound valid I loading. With reference loading, critical NSIF at failure can be expressed as function V-notch opening angle. By adopting considered here, expressions presented analitycally compared. After all, employed considering V-notched specimens in-plane shear order investigate predictive capability each approach assessment. this aim, large bulk experimental data taken from past used comparison.
