Creating 360° underwater virtual tours using an omnidirectional camera integrated in an AUV

摘要: The use of omnidirectional cameras underwater is enabling many new and exciting applications in multiple fields. Among these, the creation virtual tours from image surveys expected to have a large impact terms science conservation outreach. These can be performed by Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) Autonomous Underwater (AUVs) that cover marine areas with precise navigation. Virtual are relevant zones special interest such as shipwrecks or nature reserves for both scientists general public. This paper presents first results carried out an AUV equipped camera, explores process automatically creating most images datasets.
