摘要: Epigenetic signatures such as DNA methylation may be associated with specific obesity traits in different tissues. The onset and development of some obesity-related complications are often linked to visceral fat accumulation. aim this study was explore levels peripheral white blood cells identify epigenetic marks waist circumference (WC). were assessed using Infinium Human Methylation 450K MethylationEPIC beadchip (Illumina) search for putative associations WC values 473 participants from the Methyl Epigenome Network Association (MENA) project. Statistical analysis Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) employed assessing relationship between WC. A total 669 CpGs statistically (FDR 88 cm, 95 males ≤ 102 > cm. These differentially methylated located genes related inflammation according IPA. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves top four significant separated by sex discriminated individuals presence or absence abdominal fat. ROC all females one CpG validated an independent sample (n = 161). results add further insights about relationships obesity, adiposity-associated comorbidities, where processes involved.
