摘要: Chironomid species are a vital component in many benthic and terrestrial food webs; they have an important role the detritus cycle, source of for species. We studied how tributyltin (TBT) brackish water sediments affect composition chironomid communities. Emergence traps were used at selected sites on TBT gradient Archipelago Sea, S-W Finland. Increased sediment concentration was associated with significant turnover, which turn related to decreased diversity (number genera). However, overall number individuals did not decrease markedly increasing contamination. This suggests that ecological chironomids web may be preserved even under severe impoverishment community due organic tin The increased prevalence more tolerant can potentially lead transport compounds between aquatic webs. Furthermore, reduced ecologically influential group might lower resistance entire other environmental hazards perturbations.
