摘要: Cyperus papyrus, commonly referred to as belongs the Cyperaceae family and is one of most prolific emergent macrophytes in African subtropical tropical wetlands. Botanical studies have shown that stands papyrus are capable accumulating large amounts nutrients a high standing biomass. Its C4 photosynthetic pathway makes C. highly productive with dry weight biomass generation rates up 6.00 kg m−2 years−1 nutrient uptake 7.10 ha−1days−1 0.24 of, respectively, nitrogen phosphorus. plants take about 6–9 months mature reliable natural regrowth replenishment on site after harvesting. Studies featuring side-by-side investigations unplanted controls show has mostly positive effect treatment wastewater. The ability use from wastewater incorporation heavy metals organics into its phytomass, added easy management by regular harvesting, it suitable be used phytoremediation areas. Therefore, continues an excellent candidate for application macrophyte constructed wetland technology. As such, determining potential scope performance vital optimal design papyrus-based systems. This work collates growth, productivity information various independent incorporating macrophyte.
