摘要: To many local food advocates, the passage of 2008 Farm Bill was an affirmation their belief inseparability U.S. agricultural and policies. They had argued that “buying local” provides a variety benefits, including support for small farmers, increased economic activity in rural communities, reduced energy consumption pollution, improved human health. The final legislation, titled Food, Conservation Energy Act 2008, includes policies programs designed specifically to increase supply demand food. In September, 2009, advocates cheered again when Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack Deputy Kathleen Merrigan announced USDA’s “Know Your Farmer, Know Food” (KYF) initiative.
