摘要: Wave propagation was investigated in the Bouligand-like structure from within dactyl club of stomatopod, a crustacean that is known to smash their heavily shelled preys with high accelerations. We incorporate layered nature unitary material cell through propagator matrix formalism while periodic considered via Bloch boundary conditions as applied theory solid state physics. Our results show these materials exhibit bandgaps at frequencies related stress pulse generated by impact its prey, and therefore exhibiting wave filtering addition already mechanisms macroscopic isotropic behavior toughness.
