摘要: BACKGROUND Uniformity of body weight is a trait great economic importance in the production white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). A necessary condition to improve this through selective breeding existence genetic variability for environmental variance weight. Although several studies have reported such other aquaculture species, our knowledge, no estimates are available shrimp. Our aim study was estimate uniformity farmed population determine potential including selection program. We also estimated correlation between two environments (selection nucleus and commercial population). METHODS The database contained phenotypic records on 51,346 individuals from 38,297 population. double hierarchical generalized linear model used analyse environments. Fixed effects included sex year data year-pond combination data. Environmental additive were as random effects. RESULTS greater than 0 (0.06 ± 0.01) both populations coefficient variation residual 0.25 ± 0.01. close zero population) 0.64 ± 0.06. CONCLUSIONS suggests that improvement possible. Selection should not decrease weight, given near these traits. strong indicates response will be at least partially transmitted if goal.
