Brachial or wrist blood pressure in obese patients: which is the best?

摘要: OBJECTIVE: Blood pressure (BP) measured in obese patients with a large arm circumference using cuff of standard width may be overestimated. METHODS: We compared this study the BP readings obtained oscillometric devices at left (OMRON HEM 705-CP) and wrist R6) (Omron Medizintechnik, Mannheim, Germany) lean (n=15) (n=11) patients. RESULTS: No difference was found diastolic between two groups, nor wrist. Systolic was, however, significantly lower (99+/-9 mmHg, mean+/-SD) than (107+/-14 mmHg; P<0.001) patients, whereas systolic determined averaged 106 mmHg both groups.
