摘要: The Caledonides are a major orogenic belt that stretches from the Arctic, through Scandinavia, East Greenland, Britain and Ireland into Atlantic coast of North America. Following break-up Rodinia, formed in Palaeozoic by drifting various continents their eventual aggregation Silurian Devonian. orogen subsequently fragmented during opening Ocean. This volume brings together 25 papers presenting results modern research investigates processes provenance specific components belt. contributions reflect different lines research, linking traditional field studies with analytical techniques. In addition three overview summarize main features belts Svalbard, Ireland, highlighting advances made since last synthesis Scandinavian 30 years ago, discussing important open questions.
