摘要: The scent of blood is potentially one the most fundamental and survival-relevant olfactory cues in humans. This experiment tests first human parameters perceptual threshold emotional ratings men women an artificially simulated smell fresh contact with skin. We hypothesize that this blood, its association injury, danger, death, nutrition will be a critical cue activating motivational systems relating to either predatory approach behavior or prey-like withdrawal behavior, both. results show thresholds are unimodally distributed for both sexes, being more sensitive. Furthermore, men’s responses divide strongly into positive negative valence ratings, having strong arousal component. For women, split related phase their menstrual cycle oral contraception (OC). Future research investigate whether genders context-dependent trait-like.
