Experimental studies on the effect of obstacle upstream of a Savonius wind turbine

摘要: The present studies investigate the performance of a small Savonius vertical axis wind turbine equipped with an upstream obstacle to guide direction. tunnel measurement was carried out in test facility at Mechanical Engineering Department, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). dynamic torque measured using brake dynamometer. Several variations orientations were investigated. Two different speeds 2.48 m/s and 7.45 m/s considered, that correspond Reynolds numbers 30,000 90,000, respectively, according rotor diameter. It is found from mechanical power generated by are strongly affected obstacle. On other hand, number has no significant impact on performance.
