Multihoming performance benefits: an experiment evaluation of practical enterprise strategies

摘要: Multihoming is increasingly being employed by large enterprises and data centers as a mechanism to extract good performance from their provider connections. Today, multihomed end-networks can employ variety of commercial route control products optimize over multiple ISP links. However, little known about the mechanisms such relative trade-offs. In this paper, we propose evaluate wide range practical schemes that could go into design device analyze trade-offs. We implement proposed on Linux-based Web proxy perform trace-based emulation benefits. show both passive active monitoring based techniques are equally effective improve 25% when compared using single provider. Another key observation conventional practice employing historical measurement samples monitor predict could, in fact, result sub-optimal performance.
