摘要: Crystalline diamond nanowires have been grown in a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process under 900 °C and atmospheric pressure – an extraordinary find growth. These are straight, thin long, uniform diameter (60–90 nm) over their entire lengths of tens microns. Extensive characterizations including electron microscopy Raman spectroscopy were performed to confirm that the nanowire has highly crystalline cubic structure encased inside graphitic or carbonaceous shell. Such core–shell suggests potential formation mechanism framework effectively lowered Gibbs free energy due nano-capillary surface charge pressure. The capillary (inversely proportional wire radius) can be sufficiently high allow phase thermodynamically favorable inner core while outer shell takes on phase. properties manifest themselves differently morphology. Examples include single-photon emission nitrogen-vacancy field-emission. Whereas former received much attention literature, latter turned out just as impressive is show-cased here for first time.
