摘要: Major drainage divides (separating the water flow draining to different seas) may significantly affect dispersal, distribution, and genetic structure of semiaquatic animals. Assessing this effect is important for proper management both endangered invasive riparian species. Here, I determined fine-scale impact divide between Baltic Sea Black basins on dispersal Eurasian otter ( Lutra lutra ) in Bieszczady Mountains (Poland Slovakia). investigated population assessed 3 alternative models using 6 landscape genetics methods. The analyses were based 48 individual genotypes obtained from 622 fecal gland secretion samples collected 2008–2011. Results indicate that major not a barrier gene population. This was established by confirmed analysis spatial distribution originating closely related individuals. In line with these findings, best-supported model assumed otters migrate through mountain passes, away streams, thus revealing they are able cross divide. studied exhibits an isolation-by-distance pattern; however, locations several repeatedly recorded or individuals revealed occurrence long-distance movements. Confirmation high mobility their ability ridge suggest obstacles discontinuity river network unlikely stop flow, recolonization new areas.
