摘要: Hypocalcemia is a frequently observed clinical and laboratory abnormality in neonates. Ionic calcium crucial for many biochemical processes including blood coagulation, neuromuscular excitability, cell membrane integrity, of the cellular enzymatic activities. Healthy term infants undergo physiological nadir serum levels by 24-48 h age. This may drop to hypocalcemic high-risk neonates diabetic mothers, preterm with perinatal asphyxia. The early onset hypocalcemia which presents within 72 requires treatment supplementation at least h. In contrast, late usually after 7 days longer therapy.
