摘要: Abstract It has been predicted that despite previous reductions, greenhouse gas emissions in Ireland will continue to increase above current levels for the next 20 years. The benefit of mobilising community level action addressing climate change already seen many European countries. While Irish governmental policy envisions as necessary greater involvement energy projects and other efforts reduce carbon emissions, little progress encouraging or supporting such action. Using Q-method, this study examined identified where commonalities exist communities have successfully implemented sustainable development goals, terms their motivation, attitudes, perceived barriers opportunities continued Results indicate participants’ main motivations are derived from a sense responsibility future generations need live more balanced lifestyles. further suggest short-term central government strategy, poor support, bureaucracy, lack collaboration key limitations developing achieving effective sustainability This contributes understanding how can be aligned preferred vision bringing about transitioning low-carbon society.
