Experimental evidence for segregated ring currents in C60

摘要: The theoretical aspects of the magnetic susceptibility C{sub 60} have been controversial. most recent contribution, due to Pasquarello, claims that 5-membered rings buckminster-fullerene exhibit strong paramagnetic currents, whereas 6-membered support mild diamagnetic currents. intriguing question influence sphere on NMR chemical shifts can be solved experimentally only by placing and spin-active probe in vicinity fullerene. Since this cannot done with itself, it is necessary use properly functionalized derivatives. We report herein first experimental evidence for presence ring currents some methanofullerenes fulleroids-C{sub 61}. Compounds were prepared, according our reported procedure, addition diazo compounds 60}, their structures determined mainly spectroscopy. This constitutes theoretically postulated associated 60}. 9 refs., 2 figs.
