摘要: Abstract Oxidative stress may be involved in the cellular damage and tissue destruction as burn wounds continues to progress after abatement of initial insult. Since iron calcium ions play key roles oxidative stress, this study tested whether topical application Livionex formulation (LF) lotion, that contains disodium EDTA a metal chelator methyl sulfonyl methane (MSM) permeability enhancer, would prevent or reduce burns. Methods We used an established brass comb model with some modifications. Topical LF lotion was started 5 min post-burn, repeated every 8 h for 3 consecutive days. Rats were euthanized skin harvested histochemistry immunohistochemistry. Formation protein adducts 4-hydroxynonenal (HNE), malonadialdehyde (MDA) acrolein (ACR) expression aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) isozymes, ALDH1 ALDH2 assessed. Results lotion-treated sites interspaces showed mild morphological improvement compared untreated sites. Furthermore, significantly decreased immunostaining lipid aldehyde–protein including -HNE, -MDA -ACR adducts, restored isozymes unburned interspaces. Conclusion This data, first time, demonstrates topically applied EDTA-containing protects burns progression concomitant decrease accumulation reactive aldehydes protection isozymes. Present studies are suggestive therapeutic intervention by novel lotion.
