摘要: A key property of neural systems is their ability to adapt selectively stimuli with different features. Using multisite electrical recordings from networks cortical neurons developing ex vivo, we show that invading the network. We focus on selective adaptation frequent and rare stimuli; were stimulated at two sites stimulus frequencies. When both presented within same period, in network attenuated responsiveness more input, whereas rarely delivered showed a marked average increase. The amplification response required presence other, stimulation source. By contrast, decreased occurred regardless stimuli. Analysis single units suggests these effects are caused by changes synaptic transmission. using blockers, find increased site depends specifically fast GABAergic Thus, excitatory depression, inhibitory sub-network, balance play an active role generating gain control. observation arises naturally vivo indicates this inherent feature spontaneously organizing networks.
