Study of X-ray emission from a compact diode operated by a high-inductance capacitor discharge

摘要: A compact diode comprising a flat plate anode and sharp-edged cathode (a piece of razor blade) energized by 0.5 μF capacitor charged to 30 kV is investigated for optimization X-rays emission vis-a-vis separation between electrodes width the cathode, which responsible electron impact electric field. It high-inductance system, parasitic inductance found be 353 ± 5 nH, recorded peak discharge current just 35 02 kA. The maximum X-ray observed 2-mm-wide with an interelectrode 3 mm. yield in 4π-geometry 34 mJ wall-plug efficiency 0.015 0.001%. occurs about 200 ns after application high voltage, synchronized dip wave form. low system generation attributed inductance.
