摘要: is the most common joint disease in world, and Brazil it estimated to affect 6 12% of adults one third elderly population. There evidence that exercise, especially resistance may reduce progression. Objective: The aim this study was review literature regarding exercise as a treatment for osteoarthritis. Method: Articles indexed PubMed database were reviewed by employing "therapy narrow" filter, through "clinical queries" interface. Twenty studies selected full text review. Several types interventions, with different intensities, duration speed studied other authors. Results: various seem be safe effective promoting functional improvements pain reduction osteoarthritis patients. Low intensity isometric exercises can also promote benefits. Conclusion: Adherence programs close 50% combined use supplements or drugs along has been little so far
