摘要: REASONS FOR PERFORMING THE STUDY In man, peritoneal transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) is associated with diseases and subsequent adhesion formation. No studies on plasma TGF-beta concentrations in horses colic are available. OBJECTIVES 1) To determine both TGF-beta(1) TGF-beta(3) different types of (not previously subjected to abdominal surgery); 2) compare these according the type fluid (transudate, modified transudate exudate); 3) correlate group outcome. METHODS Peritoneal samples from 78 8 healthy were obtained. Patients classified diagnosis (obstructions, enteritis, ischaemic disorders peritonitis), analysis exudate), outcome (survivors nonsurvivors). Plasma determined by ELISA. Data analysed parametric nonparametric tests. P< or =0.05 was considered as statistically significant. RESULTS Concentrations significantly (P = 0.01) higher peritonitis comparison all other groups controls. Horses lesions had controls obstructions. concentration also exudates transudates. increased nonsurvivors compared survivors 0.001, P 0.004 0.05, respectively). CONCLUSIONS severe gastrointestinal (ischaemic intestinal an altered (exudate), nonsurvivors. POTENTIAL RELEVANCE increases disease anti-inflammatory response.
